Dummies made from other exotic or unique dummy woods. Some of the woods included here are as follows: Loong-An, Kopak, White Jade Orchid, Peach, and Sandlewood. See the bottom of the page for brief descriptions of the woods.
- PEACH WOOD
This dummy trunk is made from Peach Wood. This wood is as dense as the marble wood and almost never cracks, which is why it was chosen. The wood is a reddish color, has a very fine grain, and can be quite stunning at times. This wood is better for people that want a dense, heavy dummy, but are worried about the care required for marble wood. In Chinese culture peach wood is used to drive away evil spirits. Peaches originally come from China. The peach (Prunus persica) is a species of Prunus native to China.
- LONGAN WOOD
This dummy trunk is made from Longan Wood. Known as "Dragon Eye", Longan is another fruit tree similar to Lychee, but not quite as red in color. Weight, density, and quality is similar to that of Lychee. Longan fruit is sometimes the "sweet" in "sweet and sour" mix used on Chinese food.
- KAPOK WOOD
This dummy trunk is made from Kapok Wood. Also known as "Silk-Cotton", Kapok is a tropical tree many describe as "majestic". The trucks can be up to 9 ft in width and over 150 feet tall. Kapok has many uses and it is prized for it's long straight grain. Because it is buoyant and water-resistant, natives often use Kapok to make canoes. We use Kapok because is not a rare wood and it is lightweight but strong. This allows Kapok to be shipped cheaply and it makes a great economy dummy for those on a budget.
- SANDLEWOOD
This dummy is made from Sandalwood, a class of fragrant woods from trees in the genus Santalum. The woods are heavy, yellow, and fine-grained, and unlike many other aromatic woods they retain their fragrance for decades. As well as using the harvested and cut wood in-situ, essential oils are also extracted from the woods for use. Both the wood and the oil produce a distinctive fragrance that has been highly valued for centuries. Sandalwood is considered to be of the padma (lotus) group and attributed to Amitabha Buddha. Sandalwood scent is believed to transform one's desires and maintain a person's alertness while in meditation. In Chinese culture, sandalwood is one of the more popular scents used for incense used when offering incense to the Buddha.
- WHITE JADE ORCHID
Magnolia × alba, commonly known as the White Champaca or White Jade Orchid Tree, is a flowering plant of hybrid origin not found in the wild and cultivated for ornamental use. White Jade Orchid is widely cultivated as an ornamental in Asia, particularly tropical and subtropical regions of China and Southeast Asia for the strongly fragrant flowers. An essential oil is extracted from the flowers. In China, where it is known as bai lan (白蘭), the flowers are used to prepare yulan tea. In traditional Chinese medicine, the flowers are used to move chi and relieve cough. In the old days, the flowers were often used by Chinese women as hair ornaments.
