Everything Wing Chun / MasterPath - Butterfly Sword Carrying Case - Vertical/Hybrid Sheath
This butterfly sword case is a hybrid of a sheath and a carrying case.
Unlike the standard carrying case where the blades face opposite directions and sit spine side down, this case is designed to be carried vertically (sword tip down) and allows for both sword handles to be exposed so that you can quickly draw the blades if you wish.
A LOT of deep thought on how Wing Chun guys use the swords and the mechanics of this sheath-case. It was a long process and very time-consuming. There is no way someone not familiar with how we (Wing Chun practitioners) use the swords could have designed this. It is very unique. Every single detail was considered and lots of trade-offs had to be made based on how the majority of people will want to use this.
Features/Benefits:
Vertical Sword Placement: - This case is designed to be worn vertically under your arm or near your hip via the strap. Or propped up vertically near your desk/bed/or anyplace you want quick access to your swords. That said, you can also carry it around horizontally by the handle. - The top of the case zips open and you can button the sides back so that the top is always open. In this way, the case acts like a sheath. - The single velcro handle strap keeps your swords in their pockets. It also allows you to keep the top folded down and have the sword stay in place. It has a pull tab for quick release, or if you want to quick-draw your swords, simply do not fasten the velcro strap.
Features for sharp swords: - Cut resistant sheath pockets (so you are less likely to ruin the case with your sharp swords! Although please note the material is cut-resistant, not cut proof, so don't start sawing on it!) - Folded pocket edges to keep sharp swords from cutting the threads.
And for sword handles: - Softer interior lining to protect handles - A bit more padding in the case wall for protection.
Better Construction: - Higher quality zipper and materials - Higher quality straps and handle/strap placement design. - Improved stitching and overall quality.
Accommodates longer and wider blades as well: - The pockets are 3.9 inches wide by 14.5 inches long to accommodate blades 3 inches wide and up to 14 inches long.
And More: - The design takes into account the best way to hold the case when pulling out the swords. - Allows for easy transport with hidden or exposed handles. - Works for left or right-handed people. - Will not tarnish a blade (avoids leather and certain chemicals) so you can store swords in the case/sheath long term, unlike a leather sheath. - Designed with a slim profile. - Extra plastic piece in the base to help prevent sharp tips from poking through. - Extra plastic in the walls for rigidity when standing the swords vertically. - Designed for left and right-handed use. - plus a host of other design features you would not really notice, but you will benefit from.
These cases were designed for any butterfly sword with a blade length up to 14 inches. You might get away with one a little longer (14.5 in) if you are careful.
Overall we feel this is (by far) the best butterfly sword case/sheath on the market, and think you will agree. (Actually, it is the ONLY one, but it is better than the normal sheaths and cases in our opinion)!
