All of the Original Buick Yip Dummies are now sold. Sifu Yip retired in 2022 after decades of dedication to the Wing Chun community. In response to the continued demand for solid wood dummies, Sifu Yip has decided to return in a limited capacity. With the help of his long-time apprentice, he has initiated a new production run under his direct supervision. In 2024, the pair produced 8 sets, ensuring that each piece embodies the same exceptional quality and artistry that made these creations renowned.
Sifu Yip began his Wing Chun journey in 1964. Although he humbly chose not to teach, believing he had more to learn, he found a unique way to give back to the art by crafting dummies and poles. Over the years, these tools have become enduring symbols of their owners' dedication to the art of Wing Chun.
Reflecting on his current work, Sifu Yip said, "I have fulfilled my duty, and whatever I produce in the days ahead should be regarded as an incentive. I really don't know how long this will last." While there is no solid commitment to how many dummies will be made going forward, this exclusive series begins with Dummy #813, marking a fresh chapter in the legacy of these iconic training tools.
