The practice of the wooden dummy set refines and hones the techniques learned from the Siu Lim Tau, Chum Kiu, and Biu Gee forms. It also strengthens the power of the forearms, improves footwork and sinking energy, as well as refining the skills of Chi Sau.

Lok Dim Boon Gwan DVD
by Sifu Sam Hing Fai Chan

Lok Dim Boon Gwan is a very fast and powerful form with six and a half individual strikes.

Originally a Shaolin form, Wing Chun theories and principles such as centerline theory, economy of motion, and Chew Ying (facing) were applied to the form by Wong Wa Bo and Leung Ye Tay.

The Lok Dim Boon Gwan form can greatly increase the stability of stances, body movement, thrusting power, and strengthen the fingers, wrists, arms, shoulders, and upper body. The techniques are very fast and powerful, striking directly toward an opponent with no wasted motion.

This pole form uses a heavy pole nine feet in length, (and sometimes longer,) that tapers to a point at one end. It is unique in Wing Chun, as it uses two Shaolin stances not found elsewhere in the system: the Horse Stance and Cat Stance.

This DVD includes:

- Stance Training
- Basic Pole Training Exercises
- Individual Pole Techniques / Combat Applications
- Individual and Partner Training Drills
- Step by Step Instruction in Lok Dim Boon Gwan
- Lok Dim Boon Gwan Combat Applications
- Multiple Camera Angles

Bak Jom Dao DVD
by Sifu Sam Hing Fai Chan

In Bak Jom Dao, the knives act as extensions of the hands, utilizing the techniques first learned in the hand forms. This weapon set introduces new body weighting, with retreating and advancing footwork.

Practice of the Bak Jom Dao can also improve wrist strength and overall mobility in combat, and can also improve Chi Sau skills by applying knife techniques in Chi Sau. Each movement of the knives cuts, slashes or stabs directly at the centerline of your opponent. The form utilizes movements that are simultaneously offensive and defensive by using the knives in unison

In this sixty minute video, Master Sam Hing Fai Chan will go through the entire weapon set, walking you through all eight sections of the Bak Jam Dao.

This DVD includes:

- Bak Jom Dao Single Techniques
- All Eight Sections of the Weapons Set
- In-depth Explanations and Instruction
- Bak Jom Dao footwork
- Combat Applications
- Multiple Camera Angles

EWC Review:

This is one of the better DVDs we've seen on the knives, although of course there are not that many. Even if it is different than your lineage (it's quite different from mine), it is an informative DVD. Sifu Chan breaks the form down into detail as well as giving applications to the form. In the first couple of minutes, you see Sam Chan demonstrating a variety of weapons and talking about the swords. You then get the drills for the form, the entire form, then a close up side view and a front view by sections. This takes up about 45 minutes of the DVD. The last 18 mins or so show you a couple of applications from each section of the form.
