Applying 5 Element Theory

There is a wing chun idiom that says "The Theory of Yin/Yang Must Be Thoroughly Understood". In this workshop, we explain why the Yin/Yang theory is a key to great kung fu.

In this workshop, we explain the relationship between Yin/Yang, Wu Xing - the 5 Elements or the 5 Changing States of Being, and the 10 Celestial branches.

This philosophy represents the interactions between all things, which makes it directly applicable in martial arts. There is another Wing Chun idiom that says that your opponent will tell you how to defeat him. This guides us to understand the energetics of your opponent's action/state in order to use the correct response to nullify the attack. With an understanding of all opponent types, you will have an answer to any attack.

In this workshop, we will demonstrate wing chun performed with the energetics or "styles" relating to the 12 Heavenly Stems as well as introduce the concept of blended styles.
